As jury selection was about to begin in his death penalty trial, Lagenza Junious, plead guilty to First Degree Murder in connection with the December 20th, 2012, shotgun murder of his ex-girlfriend, Adreanne Evans. Junious also pleaded guilty to Attempted Murder of Evans' boyfriend, whom he shot in the face, as well as to Burglary, and Person not to Possess a Firearm. Junious shot Evans twice with a shotgun in her apartment in the 900 block of North Sixth Street, Harrisburg, while her mother and infant son were only a few feet away. In exchange for the guilty pleas, the District Attorney's office agreed not to seek the death penalty. Judge Scott Arthur Evans immediately sentenced Junious to Life Without Parole on the First Degree Murder charge and to a consecutive 20-40 years in prison on the Attempted Murder charge.
District Attorney Ed Marsico and Chief Deputy District Attorney Johnny Baer were handling the trial for the Commonwealth. Mr. Junious was represented by Chief Deputy Public Defenders Paul Muller and Jessica Bush. Marsico thanked the Harrisburg police for their work on the case. He noted, "this is another tragic example of domestic violence in our community." Ms. Evans' mother and sister both addressed the court and the defendant during the proceeding. In tearful testimony, they spoke of their loss and Ms. Evans' young son.
