The Derry Township Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred on Saturday, October 12th at about 7:50 am. A woman was walking her dog in the Gelder Park area. Her dog started to defecate during the walk and the woman was waiting to clean up after her dog when she was accosted by an unknown male. The male started yelling obscenities at the woman who asked the him to get away from her and her dog. Instead the male advanced and kicked the dog in the head/face. He then physically assaulted the female, striking her in the face. When a bystander yelled at the male, the male went to the playground area, retrieved a white bicycle and fled the area towards Raleigh Road. The male was described as a white male, possibly in his 50's, about 6 feet tall, wearing dark pants, a black hat, a beige and black coat and work boots.
