Over the weekend of August 14th and 15th the Swatara Township Police participated in Operation Nighthawk targeting DUI and unsafe driving throughout the greater Harrisburg area.  This enforcement operation was organized and coordinated by the Pennsylvania State Police and comprised of Troopers and Officers from multiple agencies representing many local jurisdictions.  During the two day operation there were 42 DUI arrests made, 268 traffic citations issued and 421warnings given to motorists.  In addition to the motor vehicle code violations the officers made 13 felony arrests, 32 misdemeanor arrest and served 5 outstanding arrest warrants.
