On July 2nd, 2015 at 2257 hours, Swatara Township Police were dispatched to “3B Ice Cream” at 4701 Derry Street for report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned that a single suspect entered the business and displayed a firearm, demanding money. As the suspect was collecting an undisclosed amount of money he placed the firearm on the countertop. One of the 3B employees grabbed the firearm and the suspect fled from the restaurant with the money. The employee pursued the suspect on foot but was unable to capture him.

On July 2nd, 2015 at 2216 hours, Swatara Township Police were dispatched to the “Speedway” gas station at 6821 Paxton Street for report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned that a single suspect entered the business and displayed a firearm demanding money. The suspect collected an undisclosed amount of money and fled from the business on foot. Officers searched the area with the assistance of a K-9 but the suspect was not located. No one was injured during the course of the incident.

Swatara Township Police arrested Michael Pilsitz, a school teacher at Steelton Highspire High School on 7/1/15 regarding allegations that he attempted to solicit sexual contact from a minor on the internet and engaged in sexual contact with an 18 year old female in exchange for money. Pilsitz was charged with Unlawful Contact with a Minor, Corruption of a Minor, Promoting Prostitution of a Minor, Patronizing Prostitutes, and Criminal Solicitation of Patronizing Prostitutes.

Swatara Township Police conducted a prostitution enforcement detail during the evening hours of 6/16/15 in the hotels and motels along the Eisenhower Boulevard corridor. During that enforcement detail Bir Magar was arrested for patronizing a prostitute.

On 5/2/15 at 1138 hours, Swatara Township Police were dispatched to "Luke's Auto Service" at 3715 Derry Street for a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, officers found four vehicles engulfed in flames at the business. The fire was extinguished by the fire department and the nearby buildings were saved. Further investigation revealed that the fire had been started by a cigarette discarded by Kai Brown, and caused approximately $12,000 in damage. He has since been charged with Criminal mischief and Dangerous burning.

On 5/16/15 at 1627 hours, Swatara Township Police were dispatched to the "Christmas Tree Shoppes" store located at 4690 High Pointe Boulevard for report of a young child left alone in a car. The responding officer located the car as it was leaving the area and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Bernice Perez, admitted to leaving her 18-month-old child in the car while she went shopping because the child was asleep. Further investigation revealed that the child was alone in the car for 10 minutes. Mrs. Perez has been charged with Endangering welfare of children via summons.

On Wednesday, June 15, 2015 at approximately 2:20 pm  Swatara Twp.

In the early afternoon hours of June 13th, Swatara Township Police and other emergency personnel were dispatched to a residence on Oriole Court regarding the possible drowning of an 18-month-old child. Emergency treatment was provided on the scene and the child was taken to a local hospital for further medical care. At the time of this release, the child's condition is unknown. The names of those involved are not being released out of respect to the family during this difficult time.

Swatara Police are investigating a Burglary that occurred at the Sun Up Exxon located at 770 Eisenhower Boulevard, Harrisburg on May 25th at approximately 3:09 am. Officers were dispatched to an alarm and upon arrival discovered the front door had been damaged and the business had been entered. The suspect had left prior to police arrival. The suspect stole packs of Newport cigarettes.

UPDATE: The person involved has been identified and is cooperating with police during this ongoing investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.

Swatara Township Police responded to the area of 10 Reading Street, Steelton PA, on 4/29/15 at 0725 hours for report of a suspicious male making verbal contact with two female 8th grade students on their way to school.

On Thursday, October 23, 2014 at approximately 2 p.m. the Swatara Township Police Department received a report of a suspicious person on the Steelton Highspire School District Property along the 200 Block of Reynders Avenue. Based upon this report both the Elementary and High Schools were placed on a lock down status while the Swatara Township and Steelton Borough Officers secured the area and checked the property and buildings.

UPDATE: Clifford Thomas, Jr. turned himself into Police on Thursday, July 1, 2015. 


On June 15, 2015 around 7 p.m. the Swatara Township Police were dispatched to a stabbing at the Summit View Apartments in Swatara Township. The victim was stabbed three times in the upper torso with a knife.

Life Team EMS responded and transported the victim to the hospital. The suspect was identified as Clifford Thomas Jr. Thomas fled the scene on foot and was not located.

On May 26 2015 a victim reported to Swatara Township Police Department that she had lost her pink pocketbook at Walmart on May 25 2015 between 2100 hours and 2200 hours. The victim arrived home at approximately 2130 hours, at which time she noticed that her pocketbook was missing.  She returned to the store but was not able to locate it.  The pocketbook contained cash, credit/debit cards and personal identification.
