The Swatara Township Police Department is excited to announce that the 5K Hero Run is returning in 2021!  That's right, one of the top 5K races in the Harrisburg area is returning after a long....long year off.  The 8th Annual 5K Hero Run is scheduled for Sunday November 7th, 2021 from 8:00am to 11:00am at the Harrisburg Mall.  This unique race takes runners around the Tecport business area, out onto Paxton Street and through the Harrisburg Mall.  Participants are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite Hero's outfit.  Both walkers and runners of all ages can participate in the 5K Hero Run.  We also have a 100 Yard Hero Dash for children under the age of 9 (includes a goody bag for all Hero Dash participants).  This race is one of our department's largest community events of the year and is a huge fundraiser for our K-9 Unit.  Proceeds also go towards the Cops for K.O.P.S charity, the Keystone Wounded Warriors and the National Fallen Fire Fighters Foundation.  Face painting and FREE photo booths will be onsite for all to enjoy.  Come meet K-9's J.T., Kix and Santi as well as our newest K-9, Tattoo.  Department challenge coin medals are given out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place runners in each respective age group for men and women.  Cash prizes are given out for fastest times overall as well.  Come out and join the fun and camaraderie with everyone in attendance who is supporting our local heroes.  

Special pricing is taking place during the month of June ONLY!  Registration for the 5K Hero Run in June is only $20.  The 100 Yard Hero Dash is $15.
