The deadline to submit your application for this year's Citizens Police Academy is quickly approaching.  All applications for the 2022 class must be in by the end of the day this Friday (1/14/22).  This 10 week program is perfect for those who are interested in a career in law enforcement OR for those who simply want to learn more about what the police do.  The Citizens Police Academy provides a behind the scenes look at law enforcement in central Pennsylvania.

The program is for residents and non-residents of Swatara Township to include anyone within or outside of Dauphin County.  Topics of discussion will include Patrol and Traffic Enforcement, Police K-9, Forensics, the PA Court System, Community Services, Cyber Crime, Criminal Investigations, Drug Investigations, Police Administration, Dauphin County CRT (SWAT Team) and many more.

Academy classes will include presentations from our officers who are experts in their specific field.  This academy is classroom based and individual participation in discussions is strongly encouraged.  The academy will also incorporate various field trips to criminal justice facilities within the county of Dauphin to include Dauphin County Prison, Dauphin County Judicial Center, Dauphin County Court House, Dauphin County Communications Center and Magisterial District Judge Michael Smith’s Office (all subject to COVID guidelines at the time of the academy and subject to change based on the same).

Our first class begins on Monday, February 21, 2022 at 6:00pm at the Swatara Township Municipal building.  Each class is held once a week, every Monday evening from 6pm to 8:30pm.  All cadets who complete the program will receive a certificate of completion.
