COME JOIN SWATARA PD FOR AN EARTH DAY CLEAN UP EVENT

In honor of Earth Day, which is celebrated on April 22nd each year, Swatara Township Police will be participating in a clean up event this Saturday, April 24th from 9am to 12pm.  The detail will take place along Paxton Street, the Harrisburg Area Green Belt and Vanatta Park.  Members from Swatara Police and Township Administration will be meeting in the large parking lot just behind the McDonalds Restaurant on Paxton Street in Swatara Township at 9am (please refer to the attached PDF for a map).  We will divide up into groups and focus our efforts along the 2900-3200 blocks of Paxton Street (south side) and the Green Belt area.  After we have cleaned up this area we will be moving over to Vanatta Park, which is located just behind the 7-11 along Derry Street (4800 block of Derry Street).  We will clean up trash at Vanatta Park and then everyone is invited to stay for lunch, where we will be serving hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks.  We plan on serving lunch between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm at Vanatta Park.  Traffic vests, trash pickers, trash grabbers and trash bags will be provided by the township to participants, however feel free to bring your own supplies if you prefer.  This is an open invitation to anyone who would like to help out (No RSVP necessary).  This is also a great way for children to get involved and teach them the value of taking care of their community.  WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
