Fogleman Stoss Isshinryu Karate was started in 1976 by Swatara Township Police Officer Jim Clark. Initially the instruction was only for Police Officers. In 1978 the Karate school was taken over by Swatara Township Police Officer Bruce Fogleman, who opened it to the public. They have provided Karate instruction to all since. Although Sensei Fogleman has since passed away the school was run by Sensei Mike Stoss and Sensei Joe Buckman and is now largely instructed by Sensei Jim Kaiser and Sensei John Cassett. The Swatara Township Police Department is proud of our origins in the creation of this school and those keeping the memory and passion of Officer Fogleman alive.
Fogleman Stoss Isshinryu Karate is a "group of Isshinryu Karata practitioners that get together to work out, learn self defense, body control, persistence, focus discipline, memory, goal setting, respect and confidence."
Congratulations to Fogleman Stoss Isshinryu Karate on reaching 45 years and here is to looking forward to the next 45 years of service to our community.
