Victims from throughout the region have reported that persons representing themselves as Law Enforcement Officers / Sheriffs are contacting them as they have "Warrants" for their arrest for various reasons. The scammers tell the Victims to buy "cash cards" at a local retailer and place various sums of currency on the cards. The scammers then instruct the Victims to provide them with the card number and security codes, or to mail the cards to a specific address.
DO NOT RESPOND TO ANY REQUEST BY A REPORTED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS TO SEND CASH OR A CASH CARD FOR ANY OUTSTANDING MATTER. IF YOU HAVE AN OUTSTANDING WARRANT A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER WILL VISIT YOU IN PERSON. YOU WILL NEVER BE ASKED TO OBTAIN A CASH CARD TO PAY AN OUSTANDING LEGAL OBLIGATION.
