The Swatara Township Police would like to say THANK YOU to all of the VETERANS who have served this great country. Today we were honored to attend the Veterans Day ceremony hosted by Rutherford VFW post 1213. Although the ceremony was moved indoors due to the weather, it was great to be able to attend and honor our veterans.
Major Jordan Ames (USMC, ret) was the keynote speaker and gave a wonderful speech reflecting on the sacrifice and commitment given by those who have served our country in our Armed Forces. It was wonderful to hear the memories from all the veterans in attendance.
Evynn Reider was also recognized at this ceremony. Evynn recently enlisted in the United States Navy and will be leaving for boot camp shortly. Evynn has volunteered her time assisting our Police Department with community service events for the last 10 years. She portrayed McGruff the Crime Dog at several events and assisted behind the scenes at many more. She was a huge help to our Department serving the citizens of Swatara Township and Paxtang Borough. We are proud that Evynn chose to continue her service to our citizens in the US Navy. Eveyn - we wish you "Fair Winds and Following Seas" in your service, you will be missed.
