In the interest of public health and safety the Swatara Township Police Department has decided to cancel National Night Out this year due to COVID-19.  National Night Out was originally scheduled to take place in August but was postponed several weeks ago to October due to COVID-19.  At the time, we had hoped that COVID-19 cases would have subsided and statewide restrictions would have been lifted.  With the uncertainty of future COVID-19 cases we felt that cancelling National Night Out was the best decision in order to keep our residents safe.  Please know that this was a difficult decision for our department because we look forward to National Night Out every year, which provides an opportunity for our officers to interact with the public in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.  The Swatara Township Police Department will continue to engage the community in the upcoming weeks and months with smaller events that fall within the state’s guidelines for social distancing.  We want to thank all of the businesses and organizations who have supported National Night Out year after year and we look forward to bringing this event back in August of 2021!
