REMINDER: PRESENTATION BEING HELD ON WEDNESDAY 12/14/22 AT 1:30PM AT THE SWATARA TWP. MUNICIPAL BUILDING.
The Swatara Township Police Department is partnering with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office to host an educational seminar geared toward seniors. Pennsylvania is home to over 2 million seniors and they are more likely to be victims of certain crimes like fraud, identity theft, scams, and financial exploitation. Too many criminals see our senior citizens as vulnerable targets and look to exploit and profit off of them. In fact, seniors across the country lose $3 billion each year to scams and fraud cases. The goal of our presentation is to engage with seniors within the Harrisburg area and provide them with an overview on Medicaid Fraud and Scam Awareness Fraud Education. Medicaid Fraud deals with the investigation and prosecution of abuse and neglect of care-dependent persons. Many of these cases result in the death of the victims. Frequently, paid caregivers are the very people who are responsible for abusing and/or failing to provide the care to these individuals for which they are being paid. Scam Awareness Fraud Education OR S.A.F.E. will be dedicated to helping seniors reduce their risk of being susceptible to frauds and scams that are running rampant throughout our society. This seminar will be held on Wednesday December 14th from 1:30pm to 3:00pm in the Commissioner’s Hearing Room at the Swatara Township Municipal building. The seminar is FREE and is open to all members of the community to include those outside of Swatara Township and Paxtang Borough. If you have any additional questions please contact Detective Christopher Seiler at 717-564-2550 OR via email at cseiler@swatarapolice.org.
