On 8/22/20 the Swatara Police Department hosted their first Swatty Float along the Swatara Creek. This event was open to the public and provided an opportunity for community members to meet some of our police officers in a relaxed and refreshing atmosphere, while enjoying some good food, tunes and company from our Director of Public Safety Darrell Reider. Our officers were floating and paddling down the Swatty and enjoying the final weekend of summer before most kids went back to school. A special Thank You goes out to the Harrisburg River Rescue and Emergency Services team, Swatara Fire Department and Life Team EMS for attending and helping to make this event safe for everyone. We would also like to thank the Swatara Township Highway Department for assisting on the day of and the weeks leading up to the event by preparing both parks. Township Commissioners Connolly, Ellis and Bouder were all in attendance as well. It was wonderful to see everyone having such a great time out on the water. The Swatara Creek provides a great scenic water route that is located right in our own backyard for those who enjoy floating, kayaking and canoeing. The lack of rain this summer provided a slow, steady and warm waterway for all to enjoy! Thank you to everyone who joined us for this event and we look forward to seeing you at the next one.
