Swatara Township, to include the Police Department and the Parks and Recreation Department, teamed up with students and faculty members of Swatara Middle School on 4/10/21 to help clean up two township parks. Volunteers were given tasks that included leaf clean up, trash pick up and mulching. The two parks that were selected included Horner Park in the Tri-Community area and Clown Park, which is located on the far southeastern side of the township. The students did a great job working together on this detail and on behalf of Swatara Township we would like to thank the staff at Swatara Middle School for organizing this event. It was great to get everyone outside and make a positive impact on these two recreational areas. Swatara Police will be participating in another clean up detail coming up on April 24th which will focus on areas of the Harrisburg Green Belt. Remember that Earth Day is on April 22nd. Challenge yourself to get outside and help with a neighborhood clean up detail, which you can easily coordinate through social media. It's also important to involve our children in events like these as it can teach them to appreciate nature and form positive habits that will help keep their community clean for years to come!
