On Sunday, October 11, 2020 from 1pm to 3pm the Swatara Township Police Department will be teaming up with the Living Water Community Church, located at 206 Oakleigh Avenue Harrisburg, for our first Faith & Blue event.  We invite all community members to join our officers and the congregation of the Living Water Community Church for an afternoon of free food, fellowship and fun.  This event is a collaborative effort intended to build bridges and break biases within the community.  Kids can enjoy playing basketball and cornhole with some of our officers and get to see the inside of one of our marked patrol vehicles.  This event is weather permitting (any cancellation would be posted on our web portal the morning of the event).  No registration is required.  We hope to see you there!

"National Faith & Blue Weekend is an extension of the One Congregation One Precinct initiative (OneCOP), a program of Movement Forward, Inc., which is a bridge-building, solutions-focused human and civil rights organization based in Atlanta, Georgia. The OneCOP initiative pairs together officers at the beat or precinct level with local houses of worship.  Working together, the paired officer and faith leader address mutually held biases and increase familiarity. OneCOP has launched in a number of cities, and yet the need for this type of collaboration is apparent in every community. With 65 million Americans attending a house of worship each week, there is a tremendous opportunity to engage the public at large. National Faith & Blue Weekend was conceived as the way to open OneCOP to everyone (faithandblue.org)."
