The Swatara Township Police Department is teaming up with Wal-Mart for a Drug Take Back event, which will be taking place at the Harrisburg Wal-Mart on Saturday April 22nd from 10am until 2pm. The Drug Take Back event provides a safe and secure way for you to discard your unused or expired medication. This includes over the counter drugs and/or prescription medication. We will accept all types of drugs to include liquids as long as they are in a sealed container. SORRY, WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANY NEEDLES. If you have used OR unused needles that you need to discard, you are allowed to place them in an empty laundry detergent container with the lid on, and place it out with your regular trash pick up. This is an anonymous program. No personal information is collected and we never handle any of the drugs/containers that are brought in. The Drug Take Back event provides a safe and secure way for anyone to dispose of their unused/expired medication so that it does not end up in our water supply or in the hands of the wrong person. There is no need to remove any labeling as the collected drugs will be sealed and destroyed. Swatara Police will have a table set up just outside of Wal-Mart between the hours listed with an officer on site.
The Harrisburg Wal-Mart is located at 6535 Grayson Road Harrisburg, PA.
