Swatara Police show strong presence at schools

The Swatara Township Police Department showed a strong presence at the schools throughout the township and Paxtang Borough today!  Today marked the first day of school for both the Central Dauphin School District and the Steelton-Highspire School District.  Director Reider along with Lieutenants Stauffer, Krahling and Shatto joined SRO Smith and other Swatara officers at the Steelton-Highspire Jr/Sr High School as well as the Elementary School this morning.  Commissioner Connolly was also present to greet the kids and parents on the first day of the 2019-2020 school year.  There were a lot of smiling faces as the kids returned from their summer break.  Officers were also out at St. Catherines Laboure School, Rutherford Elementary, Paxtang Elementary, Lawnton Elementary and Swatara Middle School.  Commissioner Bouder and Sgt. Baluh were in attendance at Chambers Hill Elementary School.  It’s important for us to show our presence at the schools, particularly on the first day, because we want the kids to know we are there for them!  Our officers will continue to make random foot patrols inside of our schools throughout the school year to help make them as safe as they can be.  Here’s to a GREAT school year!”
