On Saturday, August 13, 2022, the Swatara Township Police Department along with a Trooper from the Pennsylvania State Police joined with Team Rubicon and others to assist with the fall clean up of the historic Midland Cemetery. During this clean up volunteers cut grass, trimmed trees, removed brush and pushed north into the tree line where 3 long lost grave sites were discovered. Friends of Midland Cemetery look forward to researching these newly discovered burial sites to bring those people and their history, back.
We were honored to meet the hard working volunteers of Team Rubicon. Team Rubicon is a civilian 501(c)(3) organization with the goal to respond to natural disasters throughout the world and assist those in need. If you are interested in learning more, or volunteering with Team Rubicon, we recommend you find Team Rubicon on-line.
Ms. Barksdale and the Friends of Midland Cemetery are currently in the process of requesting that the Midland Cemetery be added National Register of Historic Places. If you are interested in learning more about the Midland Cemetery or volunteering we ask that you find it on-line and contact them through their website.
It is an honor to give back to the community we serve as we strive to make this the best for all who live here or visit.
