The Swatara Police Department would like to welcome their newest member of the department, K-9 Santi! K-9 Santi will be Officer Chris Smith's new partner and will be the third K-9 added to the department's K-9 Unit. Director Reider chose the name "Santi" which means "peace" in Nepalese. Twelve month old Santi will be trained as a patrol dog and will specialize in narcotic detection. After Santi's five week training academy is completed he will be joining the department's Patrol Division. Congratulations to Officer Chris Smith on becoming our newest K-9 handler. We are proud to have a K-9 Unit in Swatara Township that is completely funded through grants, donations and fundraising events. If you would like to make a donation to the Swatara Police Department's K-9 Unit please email Cpl. Brandon Pokrop at bpokrop@swatarapolice.org or call 717-564-2550.
