The Swatara Township Police Department has updated the terms of use on the Department's Facebook Page.

TERMS OF USE:
1. All persons named on this site are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
2. An arrest is not an admission of guilt; only a court of law can make that determination.
3. Communications posted by visitors ARE NOT PERMITTED. Facebook users have previously posted material on this site that contained ethnic slurs or profanity; material that was harassing, defamatory, fraudulent, deceptive, misleading, discriminatory and/or sexually explicit. In addition, Facebook users have posted comments that are unrelated to the original posts. In order to prevent this material from being posted and make the Facebook Page a useful tool for the Department and the community, the Swatara Township Police Department has elected to PROHIBIT ALL COMMENTS AND PUBLIC POSTING TO THIS SITE. Any comments or posts made by visitors that evade the Department’s attempts to prohibit comments and public postings will be promptly deleted, regardless of content.
4. Visitors repeatedly attempting to post material that falls into the aforementioned categories will be banned from viewing this community page.
5. Any advertisements appearing on the site are not controlled by the Township, Officials, or the Agency and any individual representing those organizations and do not reflect endorsement by any agent on their behalf by the Township, Officials, or the Agency and any individual representing those organizations.
6. All postings attempted to be made by visitors to the site may be retained by the Township, the Police Department and their officials, officers and employees and any individual representing those organizations, in its discretion and as required by applicable law or policy.
7. All attempted postings may be subject to the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law and other public records and disclosure laws, as well as discovery in litigation. This includes, but is not limited to, information made available through a user’s privacy setting on personal social media and other internet pages.
8. Visitors to the site have no expectation of privacy or confidentiality with respect to any content they attempt to post to the site, and the Township, the Police Department and their officials, officers and employees and any individual representing those organizations have no responsibility for maintaining any such privacy or confidentiality.
9. This site is not owned, controlled, or operated by the Township, the Police Department and their officials, officers and employees and any individual representing those organizations.
