The Swatara Township Police Department will be joining dozens of other police departments from across the Commonwealth, now through September 24th, in conducting special enforcement details which target Child Passenger Safety. Vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children under the age of 13. Our officers will be looking for seat belt violations in vehicles, specifically involving passengers 12 years of age and younger. We would like to remind motorists that newborn babies up to age 2 are required to be in a rear facing car seat, children ages 2 to 4 are required to be in a 5 point harness restraint and children ages 4 to 8 are required to be in a booster seat. It is recommended that children 12 years of age and younger ALWAYS sit in the back. For additional information on child seat restraint systems or laws please click HERE. Remember, ARRIVE ALIVE!
