Thefts from vehicles

The Swatara Township Police would like to remind residents and visitors to lock vehicle doors and keep valuables out of sight. While keeping valuables out of sight is a good idea, the best practice is to take your valuables with you; don't leave them in the vehicle. Our police department has seen a slight increase in the amount of thefts from vehicles over the past week, and we are working hard to catch the thieves. You can help us by securing your valuables and locking your doors AND by calling dispatch if/when you see something suspicious. Thieves will often walk past cars and pull on door handles looking for an easy target. If you see someone walking around pulling on door handles, or something similarly suspicious, PLEASE call dispatch immediately. The non-emergency number for Dauphin County Dispatch is 717-558-6900.
