On 09/15/2025 at approximately 11:30 PM Lower Paxton Police observed a vehicle traveling westbound on Union Deposit Road near the intersection of Rutherford Rd. The vehicle was described as traveling at a high rate of speed and in a very reckless manner. The vehicle’s rear lighting was also inoperable. The officer activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop and the vehicle failed to yield and continued traveling westbound.
Due to the suspect vehicle’s high rate of speed, the Lower Paxton Officer lost sight of the vehicle near the intersection of I-83 and Union Deposit. A short while later the suspect vehicle was observed in the area of Progress Ave and Union Deposit Road and traveling eastbound. Lower Paxton observed the suspect vehicle still driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed. The suspect failed to yield to the police’s second attempt to conduct a traffic stop and entered I-83 at the Union Deposit Rd northbound off-ramp. Lower Paxton Police immediately terminated the pursuit at the Union Deposit Rd ramp. The suspect vehicle continued traveling southbound in the I-83 northbound lanes.
The suspect vehicle, a dark blue Honda CRV, traveled approximately .5 mi southbound in the northbound lanes. Near the I-83 mile marker, 47.3, the suspect vehicle crashed into a white box truck that was occupied by two individuals. The driver of the suspect vehicle was transported to Hershey Medical Center for treatment. The driver was identified as Nyceire Coiley, 18 years old, from Harrisburg, PA and he was the sole occupant. Coiley sustained non-life threatening injuries from the crash. The driver and passenger of the white box truck were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries and both have been released.
A preliminary assessment of Coiley supported facts that he was operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and well over the legal limit, at the time of the crash. The investigation is ongoing and the traffic crash is being investigated by the PA State Police.
Coiley was charged with Fleeing and Eluding (Felony 3), DUI (Misdemeanor), Recklesley Endangering Another Person (Misdemeanor 2) and numerous related summary traffic violations.
